Fortnite Exclusive GamesCom and PAX Items Leak

Fortnite Exclusive GamesCom and PAX Items Leak

Datamining following an update or patch for Fortnite is a very common occurrence these days and the most recent game update is no exception. Typically though this practice, fans are able to get some insight into what may be coming down the road for a game such as character skins, cosmetics, and even new modes within the popular Battle Royale mode. With update 5.20 hitting earlier this week, dataminers have come across new details regarding exclusive PAX West and Gamescom cosmetic and personalization items.

While taking a look through the catalog API, Fortnite leaker Mystxc Leaks came across two entries with descriptions that list PAX 2018 gift and GamesCom 2018 gift. While not much can be gleaned from these entries, it does appear that each item is a spray of some sort. Fans will have to wait for the official reveal by Epic Games to actually see what these items look like, however.

What isn’t made clear from this information is how these items are recieved by players. The easiest and most obvious way is through the in-game store, a likely candidate considering how often the shop updates and making it very easy for Epic to line up the item with the actual event. However, putting in the store for everyone doesn’t make it very exclusive so perhaps it’s intended to be unlocked by a code given to those who make the trip out to either PAX West or GamesCom and visit a particular booth. While such an effort is unlikely considering that the item in question is just a spray, it’ll be no less exclusive thanks to the limited time of availability.

This leak comes right on the heels of another big datamining effort earlier in the week which potentially revealed that Epic is planning on letting players customize more of the game in the coming months including the Battle Bus itself. New skins like the DurrBurger Hero, emotes, gliders, and other personalizations are also on the way. The datamined list also included a few interesting keywords for new modes including the mysterious sounding Deimos, Fly Explosives, and Wild West.

Fortnite is available now for iOS, PC, PS4, Switch, and Xbox One. An Android version is in development as well.
